Season’s Greetings from Robin Marshall, ASI Executive Director

For me personally, it is the time of year when I think about family. I am reflecting once more on what family really means. And I am realizing and appreciating what all of you, my Alström Family, have taught me about leading a more meaningful and fulfilling life. Thank you!

As we all know, Alström Syndrome occurs in all ethnicities in all parts of the world. Whether you are Black, Brown, White, or Purple, the Syndrome cares not. We are Christians, Jews, Hindus, Agnostics, Muslims, Wiccans, Pagans, and Heathens. The Syndrome cares not. Our Alström family boasts Italians, Brits, Aussies, Kiwis, Georgians, Serbs, Arabs, Turks, Canadians, Palestinians, Spaniards, Frenchmen, South Africans, Belgians, Swedes, Germans, and oh so many, many, more. The Syndrome just does not care! And so we have learned that all of our many differences fall away in the face of our shared love for these precious children which in turn enables us to recognize, accept, and even revel in our shared humanity. We truly are not so very different from one another after all, and I wish more of the world would figure that out, without having to learn the hard way.

I offer to all of you my hope that you find some Peace throughout the year in knowing that you are not alone, and I extend my wish that you embrace the Joy that our Alström children bestow on us every day.

Peace, Joy, and Love to All
